An article by Military Phonies investigated NH State Senator Lou D’Allesandro’s military service claims.
D’Allesandro’s Claims
Over the years, the so-called “Lion of the Senate” has made multiple claims that he was a retired member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
- Sen. D’Allesandro seeks documents on state’s response to Veterans Home COVID-19 outbreak: “D’Allesandro, a 12-term Manchester Democrat and retired member of the U.S. Marine Corps”
- Sen. Lou D’Allesandro: Sununu owes NH answers after veterans home outbreak: “As a veteran, the situation at the Veterans Home was incredibly personal for me.”
- Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) – NH General Court: “Military Service: U.S. Marine Corps”
- TRIBUTE TO LOU D’ALLESANDRO – Congressional Record: “Senator D’Allesandro served our country honorably in uniform in the U.S. Marine Corps”
- Lou D’Allesandro – Ballotpedia: D’Allesandro served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves in 1958.
Most curious of these claims is that the Ballotpedia entry references D’Allesandro’s own biography page on his website, which has since removed the reference to his military “career.”
FOIA Evidence
Military Phonies obtained D’Allesandro’s military records via a FOIA request. They state that his military “service” consisted of “NO ACTIVE DUTE OTHER THAN FOR TRAINING PURPOSES.” Records show that D’Allesandro enlisted in 1959, participated in two training sessions in 1959 and 1963 before being discharged after never serving on active duty.
Is this the record of someone deserving of being described as a “military veteran” and “retired U.S. Marine Corps” member?

This is interesting – the reference to “Military Service: U.S. Marine Corps” was recently removed from his official web page but Senator D’Allesandro characterized it all as “baseless allegations” and “conspiracy theories” on a post on his Facebook page. If it was baseless and a conspiracy theory, why would he remove the military service experience from his official senatorial website?
Everybody loves this guy in NH. He’s pure liberal garbage. Lion of the senate my ass, more like lying liberal of the senate.
